After an incredible 28 years of dedication, Kev and Dee Sheperdson have officially retired as owners of The Old Horse pub. Their unwavering commitment to the pub and its community has left a lasting legacy that will be fondly remembered by all who have passed through its doors.
To mark the end of this remarkable era, Aylestone Athletic Rugby Club joined the wider community for a weekend of celebrations, including a big party last Saturday to wish Kev and Dee a happy and well-earned retirement. The atmosphere was filled with gratitude, laughter, and fond memories, a fitting tribute to two people who have given so much to everyone around them.
For Aylestone Athletic, The Old Horse has been more than just a local pub—it has been our home base and our biggest supporter. Kev and Dee’s steadfast sponsorship and hospitality have been instrumental in helping our club thrive both on and off the pitch.
Looking ahead, the club is delighted to announce that operations will continue as usual from The Old Horse under the pub’s new management. Sam Hagger, the incoming manager, takes the reins of this beloved establishment, and we are excited to welcome him into the fold.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Kev and Dee for their years of generosity and partnership and wish them all the best in their well-deserved retirement. At the same time, we offer Sam our full support as he embarks on this new journey.
As a vital part of our rugby family, The Old Horse holds a special place in our hearts. We hope Sam will continue the legacy of supporting Aylestone Athletic Rugby Club, and we look forward to building a strong partnership for years to come.
Here’s to a successful new chapter for The Old Horse and the exciting opportunities ahead for the club and its cherished sponsor.
